I was charmed by Pleating for Mercy. In it, we were introduced to Harlow Jane Cassidy, who traded in her New York clothing design career for a dressmaking shop in Texas, kept company by her family (not all of whom are precisely alive) and a host of friends, new-and-old. It has just a sparkle of magic, but the magic never becomes the primary plot driver.

In this next book in the series, Harlow -- invited to design dresses for the debutante ball -- overhears an argument, whereupon one of the arguers shortly turns up dead. Naturally she gets involved, since she simply cannot believe that the Person of Interest could possibly be guilty.

Like many cozy mysteries, the whodunnit (which is good) plays second fiddle to the setting (fashion! dressmaking!) and the characters (who are all VERY fun). I like Harlow's special power: the ability to sew into a garment the wearer's hopes and dreams.

The result is a fun summer romp of a read... perfect for curling up with, when you want a few hours escape from real life.

This is an easy book to read and enjoy. The characters come alive and the plot flows as it should. I would recommend this to any female. I doubt many males would want to spend the time reading this.

It was a wonderful story. All ages would enjoy this book I even suggest the series.
This was book number 2. I had to order it directly from books. It was very good and expands the Cassidy clan. I like her boyfriend. Of course the murders, magic, and craziness keep happening. Then there are the goats, and the flowers that go wild. Magical!
Fun read,, well developed characters, and a good plot. The writer entwines the 'charmed' aspect of the book well with some sewing background, mystery and good character interaction. It is a relaxing, easy read that allows the characters to grow. I like this series.
I thought this was a great follow up to the first book in the series. We learned more about the Cassidy family, and their charms. The residents of Bliss, Texas are fun to get to know. Every little town has quirky characters, and Bliss has quite a few. I like the direction that Harlow and Will's relationship is taking too. Also, I like that Harlow and Gracie are forming a bond. A fun, enjoyable read! Already planning on reading the next in the series.
